real information texts about real careers.
Career interviews for kids, with real people doing real jobs: detectives, zookeepers, architects, drone pilots. Kids ask the questions, the professionals answer straight, so every interview doubles as an honest information text at genuine kid level.
Written for kids wondering what's out there, and built for teachers and homeschoolers running career education or information text units. The pathways zigzag on purpose: hardly anyone here knew what they wanted to be. One new professional every issue.
Questions teachers ask us
Where can I find real information texts about jobs for primary students?
These interviews are real Australians describing their actual jobs in their own words: a detective, a zookeeper, a scientist, an architect and more. They are written to be read by kids themselves, which makes them genuine information texts rather than invented worksheet reads. Free online, one new professional every issue.
Can I use these career interviews in my classroom?
Yes, please do. Teachers use them for career education units, information text studies, shared reading and independent reading. Project one on the board, print one, or compare two jobs side by side. The questions come from kids, so the answers land at kid level without talking down.
What jobs do the interviews cover?
A bit of everything, on purpose. Courtrooms, zoos, laboratories and bushland at night have all featured, and the mix grows with every issue of theINmag. We deliberately hunt down jobs kids might never hear about otherwise, so the library only gets more surprising as it grows.
Why real people instead of textbook career profiles?
Because real pathways zigzag, and kids should see that. Our architect started a different degree. Our scientist sold jewellery first. Our associate began in architecture too. Real people showing that not knowing your path yet is normal beats any tidy careers poster we could write.
Know someone with a brilliant job?
We're always hunting the next professional for kids to grill. Tell us who they should meet.
Straight from the mag.
Every piece in this library was published in one of these.
