What Makes Ellie, Ellie?

Ellie describes her life like this:

I grew up in Moama on the Murray River (Yorta Yorta land) and enjoy living a simple, slow and intentional life with my family. Being outdoors, in nature and fresh air are my favourite ways to spend time. I love spending my time outside work walking our dog Arthur (three year old Groodle), with my husband, Farran, and daughter, Cove, whilst we enjoy the sunshine. This is non negotiable every day.

Running two businesses can be incredibly busy and sometimes stressful so I always make sure I have time in my days to do things that make me happy and are fun. Often, they are the simple things like a walk, reading a book, enjoying a hot cacao, throwing the ball with the dog, baking healthy treats and laughing with Cove.

I love helping people, experiencing new places and food (love a good breakfast), water skiing, exercise and being present with my family and friends.

What Does A Holistic Chiropractor Actually Do?

I am a holistic chiropractor who is passionate about helping families to heal and empower themselves to live a life of abundance and health. I am a strong believer in helping create solid foundations to thrive from the bottom up.

Chiropractic is a drug and surgery free approach to good health concerned with the diagnosis, management and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system (the spine). Chiropractors focus on the detection and correction of abnormal spinal function and its subsequent effect on how the nervous system controls and coordinates the body.

I am obsessed and intrigued by all things health and helping people on their health journey. I wholeheartedly believe there is a better way to live a life full of nourishment and vitality, rather than just surviving and in pain, and it is never too late to feel better.

I graduated in 2017 with a Distinction in Chiropractic, and have continued to learn and evolve my knowledge to better serve and empower everyone who visits the studio. I love learning and whilst I work closely with patients of all ages, I have a Diplomate in Chiropractic Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics. That lets me take an evidence based, neuromusculoskeletal approach to typical and atypical development in infants and children. They are some of my favourite patients.

I am so grateful to be doing the work I get to do every day, and creating a calm space for our community to be heard and supported on their health journey through chiropractic care.

How Did Ellie End Up In Chiropractic?

I have wanted to be a chiropractor since I was 14 years old. I was really lucky to be playing some senior netball with a chiropractor and one day at training I had a really bad headache. With the consent from my mum, my team mate adjusted my spine on the side of the netball court and instantly gave me relief.

From then onwards, I knew I wanted to be a chiropractor and help others. I was so inspired with how incredibly effective chiropractic was, how all you needed were your hands, and you could help people to start healing, moving and functioning better with a more regulated nervous system and better brain body communication.

Chiropractic has helped me throughout so many seasons of my life and I wanted to help other people.

The chiropractic degree is five years full time. I studied at RMIT in Melbourne straight after high school. Once I completed my degree, I worked as an associate for five years and then moved onto opening two of my own practices called Restore Studio in Moama and Kyabram.

What Is Ellie Most Proud Of?

One of the proudest moments of my chiropractic career would have to be volunteering in India. In 2017, with ten of my university friends, I was lucky enough to be selected to spend a month in India travelling through villages providing life changing chiropractic care to the village locals.

People travelled hundreds of kilometres to see us as they don't normally have access to health care like we do in Australia, and in only a few days we were able to significantly help each person.

This month in India changed and shaped my life in so many ways that I will be forever grateful for, and I feel very lucky to have been able to help improve the quality of life for so many families.
